Coyle's BakeHouse

Coyle's Bakehouse, located in Dundalk, Co. Louth, where their produce is sourced locally and made in-house daily, with a vast range of pastries, sandwiches, soups and toasties to choose from. The inside of the café is a pivotal part of what they represent here at Coyle's Bakehouse – a place where everyone is welcome to enjoy their food on farmhouse tables and chairs, passed down through generations, and the work of local artists on their walls.

The story of Coyle’s Bakehouse started long before they opened in 2023. You could say it started back in the 1930s, when their grandfather, Dan, opened a butcher’s shop here in Dundalk, and their Dad took up the same business. Or, maybe it started back in the 1990s, when they were 15 and got their first job as a kitchen porter, and their love of good food and busy kitchens began.

Whenever it started, it’s been a long journey to opening Coyle’s BakeHouse, working up from porter to head chef, working in Michelin-starred restaurants along the way. When they moved back to Ireland in 2016, they launched the award-winning food business, Dark Horse, transforming their late Dad’s plot of land into a place to grow and serve delicious food, sandwiched between the Cooley mountains and Dundalk Bay.

Coyle’s BakeHouse is the beginning of a new chapter: a bakery and café in Dundalk, which will soon extend to a cookery school, an events space, and much more on the same plot of land they call home. Since they opened in 2023, they've won awards for their food, recognising their quality coffee and fresh food.

Welcome. It’s great to have you.
