Meade Farm

Meade Potato Company, from farm to fork, the Meade family grows, packs and distributes premium fresh and prepared fruit and veg to retailers and foodservice customers nationwide.
[Meade Farm]
Philip Meade Sr. began selling Queen potatoes to local shops in the northeast of Ireland in the mid-1970s, and by 1982, Meade Farm was officially incorporated. Nestled in the heart of the Boyne Valley, the family farm thrived, enjoying the benefits of the rich, fertile soil of Lobinstown, County Meath.

Meade’s passion for potatoes eventually extended to Irish vegetables and fruit, and we now have been growing, packing and distributing premium quality produce to retailers across Ireland, for over 40 years. We grow conventional and organic potatoes, carrots, onions and brassicas, and also work with a team of expert growers to supply the full range of fruit and veg.

With a commitment to sustainability ingrained in the family DNA, we are dedicated to responsible farming and innovation in production methods and new products.

Meade Farm are now launching Ireland’s and the UK’s only native food grade potato starch operation.

Our gluten free Meade Potato Starch works just like corn flour - only better!

It is does not alter the flavour or colour of your recipes and adds smooth, consistent texture.

The greater functionality of potato starch over cornflour earned it the Irish Quality Food Awards Foodservice Product of the Year Award.

Its high viscosity means that it is more effective than corn flour at thickening sauces, soups and stews, so you need 30% less of it.

Popular now as a flour/cornflour substitute when coating meat or veggies for frying, it gives a light, crispy texture, much like tempura.

Coeliacs and those avoiding gluten just love it as an ingredient in gluten free baking too.

Its versatility makes it a must have for your store cupboard…try it out and you’ll be converted!

 AN ADDED BONUS

Made in our Boyne Valley Farm, by extracting starch using only surplus potatoes, our starch is the only starch of its kind produced in Ireland and the UK.

It has a unique green supply chain model, that has garnered many awards and represents a real win for sustainability, and for the circular economy.

Our Meade Potato starch is now listed on Tesco online, and in selected Tesco stores, as well as in Evergreen stores and online, selected health food stores and Smith’s SuperValu Johnstown, Navan.

Recipes using our potato starch and more information about the product, and all our fresh produce can be found on www.meadefarm.ie

With the next generation at the helm, the Meades look forward to providing healthy, sustainable produce for Irish consumers for decades to come.
