Boyne Valley Farmhouse Cheese

Michael Finegan, pictured here with his goats, runs a mixed farm in the heart of the Boyne Valley. His goats are milked twice daily all year round to provide milk for his beautiful cheese.
Boyne Valley Farmhouse Cheese is owned and operated by Michael & Jenny Finegan. They produces a range of cheeses using their own goat milk. The goats are milked twice a day all year round, providing milk for the cheese business. The cheeses are made on the family farm, outside Slane in Co. Meath. An old stone building, which was formerly a cow byre 300 years ago, was converted into the present cheese making facility. Michael is a dairy goat farmer with a herd of 300 milking goats. There are 4 breeds in the herd, Saanen, Alpine, Toggenburg and Anglo Nubian.
Half of the goat milk goes to Glenisk and the rest is made into cheese.

Boyne Valley Bán has won gold and 'Best Irish Cheese' in the British Cheese Awards, received 3 stars, and was nominated for a 'Golden Fork' award in the Great Taste Awards.

Boyne Valley Blue has many awards, including a bronze in the Irish Cheese Awards and a thumping Two Star Gold at the Great Taste Awards.
