Boyne Valley Farmhouse Cheese

Michael Finegan, pictured here with his goats, runs a mixed farm in the heart of the Boyne Valley. His goats are milked twice daily all year round to provide milk for his beautiful cheese.
‘Boyne Valley Farmhouse Cheese’, which is owned and operated by Michael & Jenny Finegan. Boyne valley farmhouse cheese produces a range of cheeses using their own goat milk. The cheeses are made on the family farm, outside Slane in Co. Meath. An old stone building, which was formerly a cow byre 300 years ago, was converted into the present cheese making facility. Michael is a dairy goat farmer with a herd of 300 milking goats.
Half of the goat milk goes to Glenisk and the rest is made into cheese. The main cheese is ‘Boyne Valley Blue’, which is a semi-hard blue goats cheese. It is a mild to medium strength cheese. And a white goats cheese called ‘Boyne Valley Bán’ which won Best Irish Cheese in the 2018 British Cheese Awards.
