Swainstown Farm

[Swainstown Farm]

Swainstown Farm, based in Kilmessan, Co. Meath, has been farmed by the Preston family since the early 18th century. Since 2017, they have been converting what was a traditional wheat and suckler farm, towards a new path, dedicated to producing healthy nutrient-dense and chemical-free food. They currently grow a wide range of chemical-free fruit and vegetables, and a small flock of 100% grass-fed lamb.
They aim for minimal intervention in their farming practices, which means their vegetable garden is no-till, no tractors & no chemicals. Their pastures are managed in a way that mimics nature; moving their mixed species herd daily onto fresh pasture & allowing a long time for the land to recover thereby promoting biodiversity and locking carbon down in the soil. This also keeps our livestock free from parasites & they never have to routinely medicate their animals.

Reopening of The Piggery, their farm shop, for the season! Saturday & Sunday 13th & 14th April, from 10am-5pm.
----------------------
It will be a gentle opening as winter is being a bit hesitant at shifting, so they don’t have a huge amount of veg or other produce just yet. But they'll have their delicious coffee on the go and lots of local products, fresh farm eggs, maybe some flowers, lovely crunchy lettuce, spinach, leeks, rhubarb and a few other veggies from the garden! But most of all, they are looking forward to opening the doors and seeing you all again.
