Place On A Plate Presentation in The Glyde Inn

Place On A Plate Presentation in The Glyde Inn

This week, we visited the absolutely spectacular, award winning Glyde Inn, in Annagassan, County Louth. This beautiful venue enjoys the most amazing views of the sea and mountains, as well as offering up a host of fresh, seasonal local produce.

But we weren’t just visiting to enjoy the breathtaking views but to present Conor O’Neill proprietor of The Glyde Inn with a framed picture of our illustrated producers map to signify the participation of The Glyde Inn in our Place On A Plate. The initiative was created to encourage businesses to adopt an ethos of offering fresh, locally sourced, seasonal food on their menu and just as importantly, make sure they are telling their customers about it. This initiative is supported by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s Rural Innovation and Development Fund
The Glyde Inn is a superb example of how venues can offer their customers a real sense of a Place On A Plate by incorporating the very best of locally produce throughout their menu.

We were joined on the day by our newly appointed brand ambassadors- the GastroGays- Patrick and Russell who experienced some of Conor’s fabulous dishes including locally caught razor clams- which were caught by Conor himself that very morning! Also on offer was local clams, Clogherhead langoustines and hake, Carlingford oysters and beautiful local Butterly’s smoked salmon. It was an absolute feast of local seafood all served with The Glyde Inn’s very own brew- Linn Duchaill IPA.

The Glyde Inn is host to A Taste of Togher which takes place as part of the Boyne Valley Food Series and Taste the Island on 21st September 12pm-5pm and will feature The Crafty Rock which will be showcasing a wide range of local crafts, a food village and a cookery demonstration from Tara Walker from East Coast Cookery School.  The Vikings will also feature in this years event and you can see the actual Viking Ship from The TV Series 'The Vikings'.
