Lily Ramirez-Foran - shopkeeper, food writer, storyteller, mad dreamer and lover of all things Irish – is the founder of Ireland’s first Mexican boutique grocer and cookery school, Picado Mexican in Dublin. She’s also the author behind the popular Mexican food blog A Mexican Cook. Lily has been living and cooking in Ireland for 20 years with her Irish husband and business partner, Alan. She’s a woman on a mission to showcase Mexican food beyond its clichés and misconceptions.
Lily is delighted to be attending the Samhain Festival this year with her new book "Taco", which is the first of four books from the Blasta Book series. Lily will be joined by Kristin Jensen publisher and editor of the Blasta Books.
In this session, Lily wants you to experience the magic of tortillas!
Mexicans have been making and eating Corn Tortillas for over 3500 years. Join us to learn how to make one of the simplest forms of flat bread in the world, and hear the fascinating history around this simple and nutritious stable of Mexican cuisine.
Following the cookery demo, Lily will do a book signing of her new book "Taco", which will be available to purchase thanks to our partners at Antonia's Bookstore.
