Boyne Valley Flavours invite you to attend a seminar we are hosting on Wednesday 29th November. At this event we will hear from national and international speakers with a track record in artisan food production, food network development and developing food in tourism.  Each speaker will chart their food journey and key learnings for businesses in the Boyne Valley followed by Q&A. The presentations are followed by an opportunity to input into the vision for developing a new 5-year Food Strategy for the Boyne Valley.  The event represents a very important first stage in the journey to develop a plan where we want gather the inputs of as many members of the industry as possible.

Our Speakers: 

Neil Grant, Chair of the West Cork Food Network and General Manager of the Celtic Ross Hotel

Neil has led the way on food sustainability and commitment to highlighting local food in West Cork.  He is also responsible for founding the West Cork Farm Experience and brings a wealth of practical knowledge and insights from his day-to-day role, combined with food network development and understanding the role of local food in food service and tourism.

Siobhán Ní Ghairbhith, Producer St Tola Goats Cheese

Siobhán has been leading her small but dedicated team at St.Tola Goat farm since 1999. She has brought St.Tola from a tiny, artisan, seasonal business to an internationally recognised brand. Sustainability is at the core of her philosophy, protecting her small family farm for the long term benefit of all those creatures that live on it and live off it. Her sense of place and its culture is true to all that she does in not just creating a truly artisan cheese but being a long time educator of others in the importance of sense of place & community, where honest food with true provenance & sustainability are at its a core. Siobhán is a strong advocate for promoting Irish food culture both domestically and internationally by shining a spotlight on the quality and craftsmanship of artisan Irish food products. 

 

Alastair Dobson, Managing Director of Arran Dairies and Taste of Arran

Alastair Dobson comes from a farming background, and after studying agriculture at college, he returned to the family business in the mid-eighties to help establish Arran Dairies. Arran Dairies manufactures products such as premium Arran Ice Cream, as well as wholesaling catering supplies to hospitality and catering businesses on the Isle of Arran. Taste of Arran is a collaborative business primarily manufacturing, promoting, selling and distributing food and drink from 10 SME food companies on the Isle of Arran throughout the UK and abroad. Alastair also takes an active role on a number of sector specific and wider economic and community development boards.
