The stunning Conyngham Arms Hotel is a beautifully restored 18th-century coaching inn in the heart of Slane Village. Not only is it the perfect venue for a wedding, a catch up over afternoon tea or a delicious meal out, it's also the perfect base to explore the Boyne Valley and Ireland's Ancient East. It's a 2-minute drive from Slane Castle and only a short distance to historic sites such as the Hill of Slane, Frances Ledwidge Cottage, and Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth. If you're not too worn out after all your sightseeing you can head down the street and enjoy the beautiful craft, art, and artisan food shops that this manor village has to offer.
In the busy kitchen, Head Chef David Doyle has created menus to cater for all tastes using local produce wherever possible. Their 'Place on a Plate' is the sumptuous sounding Whole Hoggs Bangers and Mash, which uses Slane based Peter Whelan's rare breed pork.
If you're a fan of afternoon tea then this is definitely one to add to your list. It can be enjoyed in their beautiful drawing room where you can watch the passersby or in the beautifully landscaped gardens overlooking the Slane Castle Estate. The restaurant has also recently received another AA Rosette Award for Culinary Excellence, for its second year running.
