Celebrate the 204 old tradition of Oktoberfest in Navan on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th of October on the rooftop terrace at The Central on Trimgate Street.
“This is our fourth Oktoberfest here in The Central, held annually as part of the Boyne Valley Food Series initiative. There is definitely a lot of interest in the festival this year, it’s a bit of fun locally with all things Bavarian including German draught beers, authentic steins and lots of German gourmet fare. We encourage our customers to dress up and lots of people dust down their lederhosen and dirndl for this weekend !”, commented The Central’s Mick Nolan.
The event is over 18s, free of charge and runs from 7pm both evenings on The Central’s award winning roof terrace.
Oktoberfest Dublin, running annually since 2008 was cancelled this year due to increases in insurance premiums. The event was due to take place on George’s Dock from September 14 until October 6.
Oktoberfest is the world’s largest beer festival and 6 million people from around the world are expected to attend the event in Munich this year. In Germany Oktoberfest is an 18-day festival and is an important part of the Bavarian culture since the early 1800s. In fact it is a 204-year-old tradition that wasn’t originally a beer festival ! The first Oktoberfest was held to honour the marriage of Prince Ludwig and Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen, in 1810.
The Boyne Valley is home to a bountiful supply of passionate farmers, food and drinks producers, chefs and eateries whose passion is to bring the flavours of our landscape to your table. To understand, you must experience!
