Experience A Virtual Apple Blossom Walk This May Bank Holiday

Published on: 28th April 2020 @ 10:44 AM

Join us for a virtual tour of Boyne Grove Fruit Farm in Drogheda, Co. Louth, home of Dan Kelly’s Cider, this May Bank Holiday Weekend on Saturday, 2nd May and Sunday, 3rd May for our 7th Annual Apple Blossom Walk.

While we may not be able to open to the public due to Covid-19, we can still show you the orchard in full bloom through the internet! All of this in aid of SOSAD Ireland and Drogheda Homeless Aid. On Saturday, 2nd May, Olan McNeece of Dan Kelly’s Cider, will be live from the orchard at 3pm to answer all your questions, but he’ll need your help. We’re asking the public to leave any questions they would like answered on our Facebook page: fb.com/dankellyscider. We will even pick a winner from all the questions to receive a box of our cider! Maybe you’d like to know how many varieties of apple trees we have, the importance of our bees, our different products and more? Let us know! Then on Sunday, 3rd May at 3pm there will be a live tractor tour through the orchards that the whole family can enjoy. Later on that evening you will also get to experience our orchard from above and see 14,000 apple trees in full blossom with our drone footage.

It is quite a stunning sight! This year, as people won’t be able to donate in person, we will be asking people to donate directly to Drogheda Homeless Aid and the SOSAD Organisation through https://www.gofundme.com/f/2020-boyne-grove-fruit-farm-apple-blossom-walk. Even more so than ever before, they need our donations to help them keep up the fantastic work that they are doing. Olan McNeece of Boyne Grove Fruit Farm said,

“Seeing our orchard in full bloom is such a special time of year. We look forward to this event every year, as do the many hundreds of people who attend. Even though we can’t open our gates to the public this year due to the restrictions, we are delighted to still be able to share the beauty of our orchard and tell people about how we make our ciders, the history of the farm and more ".

The Dan Kelly’s Cider range includes the original Dan Kelly’s Cider, Whiskey Cask Cider, Single Variety Cider No. 1 and Coll’s Craft.
