Bronagh Conlon, Chairperson of Discover Boyne Valley Flavours said, “It’s a testament to the team behind Discover Boyne Valley Flavours and the collaborative work of all the local producers, venues and event organisers, that for the third year running the Boyne Valley has been shortlisted for the award. This is our first year under our new brand and it has given us the scope to grow existing initiatives such as the Boyne Valley Food Series but also to introduce new ones like Boyne Valley Bites. It is fantastic to see our work being recognised.”
Voting for the award will be open to the public from Wednesday 25th July until Tuesday 21st August on www.foodiedestinations.ie. So if you love buying local or have attended one of our Boyne Valley Food Series events, your vote could help bring the title back home to the Boyne Valley.
In August the region will be visited by the Foodie Destination judges who will get to meet local producers, experience the amazing produce and learn more about the area and Discover Boyne Valley Flavours. The judging process focuses on seven key areas - unique visitor experience, local knowledge and participation, local producers, promotion, festivals and community events, the prospect of future projects and education and training – which is what Discover Boyne Valley Flavours is all about. The overall winner of Foodie Destinations 2018 will be announced at an event at the end of August.
The Boyne Valley is home to a bountiful supply of passionate farmers, food and drinks producers, chefs and eateries whose passion is to bring the flavours of our landscape to your table. To understand, you must experience!
