Boyne Valley Flavour's Producers Bring Home a Record Number of Blas na hÉireann Awards!

We are thrilled to announce that this past weekend at the Blas nahÉireann awards in Dingle County Kerry, Boyne Valley Flavour’s producers won an incredible amount of awards for their artisan products- 20 altogether which is an outstanding achievement.

The Blas na hÉireann awards are very competitive and are the biggest blind tasting of produce in the country so we are thrilled so many of our producers were so successful this year.

Boyne Valley Flavour’s producers that won awards for their products this year include- A Bit on the Side, Killua Castle, High Maguire the Smokin’ Butcher, Hogan’s Farms, Finnegans Farms, Newgrange Gold, Sheridans Cheesemongers, Merci Beaucoup Cake Creations, Dan Kelly’s Cider, Coole Swan, Whats for Pudding, McEntee’s Fine Irish Tea and Dunany Flour.

On top of all the product categories at the awards there are also some extra categories and Hilary McGrath of A Bit on the Side was the winner of the Best Start Up category- a fantastic achievement. (Results listed below)

Our Brand Ambassadors the Gastro Gays- Patrick and Russell were also taking part as judges at the awards and had this to say-

“it’s our third year judging the Blas na hÉireann awards, and the task doesn’t get any easier. Everything is judged blind, so it’s always a joy to see some of our local Boyne Valley producers being awarded for their fantastic efforts. Especially delighted for Hillary from “A Bit On The Side” for taking home the Best Start Up prize sponsored by Bank of Ireland! It’s the gold standard food award in Ireland, and we encourage all food & drink producers to consider submitting into the 2020 awards, not only for the exposure but for the networking and opportunities that can arise from it”

Hugh Maguire- The Smokin’ Butcher-

" I'm delighted to have received awards for our, Traditional Black Pudding & our Smoked Collar of Bacon. Our Smoked Black pudding has gained so much attention in recent years from Both Blas na hEireann and the Great Taste awards, so receiving an award for our Traditional Black pudding was very special''

Hilary McEntee- McEntee’s Fine Teas

"  Everyone at McEntee's Tea are delighted with our three Awards from Blas National Food Awards in Dingle. We received a Gold for our Irish Mint and Nettle Infusion, Silver for the Gold Blend and Bronze for the Irish Breakfast Blend. McEntee's Tea, having only recently launched our range of quality loose teas in 2018, managed to dominate the Tea category in our first year participating in the event. We feel it gives our range of loose teas, including our Afternoon Blend and Organic Sencha Green Tea, the national recognition that you can only get from Blas.”

 Lorena Kraus- Killua Castle Foods

“You are standing in front of the goals.  Unmarked. And someone passes the ball right into your hands:  That's what receiving a Blas na hEireann award is like.”

 Jack Rogers- Newgrange Gold

"Being a finalist is really special at the Blas Na hEireann Awards, as it means that you are doing something right and are up there with some of the best producers in the country. To get a bronze award is extra special and really shows that the hard work put in by all here at Newgrange Gold is beginning to pay off."
