This past weekend was another jam packed weekend in the Boyne Valley Food Series! On Friday we were in the award winning Glyde Inn in Annagassan County Louth for their Annagassan Razor Clam Event which was Day 1 of the Taste of Togher. Razor Clams are a real speciality and Annagassan produces some of the tastiest! Lucky attendees at the event got the opportunity to watch a video of how the razor clams are caught and then got to taste the beautifully prepared razor clams.
On Saturday we were back over in scenic Annagassan for Day 2 of The Taste of Togher which is now in its 8th year and continues to build on each year. Day 2 saw a huge turn out of local businesses in The Glyde Inn where Conor and his team went above and beyond to ensure a fantastic day was had by all. Listoke Gin Distillery and Gin School
Located in the village of Tinure County Louth Listoke produces several different premium award winning gins and is home to Ireland’s only gin school!
Hilda's Homemades is a family home based business producing a high quality range of creative award winning marmalades, conserves, chutneys and jellies, located just a few kilometres from the village of Summerhill in Co. Meath where they grow their own fruit. Reared on the family dairy farm in the rolling drumlins of Co. Cavan, Hilda always had a love for cooking and baking and grew up where everything was homemade and home grown where possible.
Carlingford Oyster Company
Carlingford Oysters was established in 1974 and over the past 20 years they have marketed our award winning oysters directly to customers throughout Ireland, the UK and as far afield as Hong Kong and China.Their oysters have one numerous awards and are renowned for their fabulous flavour. They grow their oysters in the pristine class A waters of Carlingford Lough. They feed from the naturally occurring plankton and the unique mix of local minerals which wash down from the mountain streams produce our oyster’s distinctive taste, texture and colour.

A bustling family business producing unique flavoursome Indian chutneys, curry sauces and snacks. Urban Indian is a family run business, providing Indian Snack Foods and Chutneys for all occasions in Ireland. They specialise in vegetarian Indian Snacks, ranging from Samosas, Cutlets, Onion Bhajis, Veggie Biscuits and many more exciting foods.
There was lots of fantastic entertainment on offer throughout the day with live music and lots of family activities. Visitors on the day also got the chance to see a real Viking Ship which was brought in from the set of the hit TV show Vikings. This was a huge hit with adults and children alike and event had some Vikings on board!
The 8th Taste of Togher was a resounding success and we are already looking forwards to next years renewal which no doubt will be bigger and better than ever before!
Sunday saw us in the beautiful Rock Farm Slane for their annual Strawfest- a celebration of the end of the harvest. We had a somewhat rainy start before the sun appeared around lunchtime and thankfully it stayed dry for the rest of the day.
Carina and her team welcomed visitors to this multi functioning farm where they experienced a Farmers Market, farm and glamping site tours, a feast of local flavours, music and event a magician!

Rock Farm Slane is a glamping, ecotourism and activity centre and organic farm on the Slane Castle estate stretching for 1.5km along the banks of the River Boyne.

Artisan bakers Jeremy and Alona are based in Navan and are master of producing the most beautiful sweet creations.
The Cider Mill
Award Winning Boutique Cider.
Estate grown, made & bottled with pride & passion in Slane, Co.Meath.
Visitors also got the opportunity to feast on a delicious spread of organic spit roast pig, organic baby potatoes and organic mixed salad, all from the farm along with wood fired pizza,
burgers and jumbo sausages on the BBQ which all went down very well!
As well as all the amazing produce on offer there were tours of the farm and glamping facilities.
Rock Farm Slane is a glamping, ecotourism and activity centre and organic farm on the Slane Castle estate stretching for 1.5km along the banks of the River Boyne. The views throughout the farm and glamping site are absolutely breathtaking.
Carina and her team are passionate about what they do and that was clear for all who took the tour.

Next weekend the Boyne Valley Food Series takes us to Berminghams Bar in Navan County on Saturday 28th September for their Celebration of Oysters & Stout event. There will be lots of delicious local stout on offer from BRÚ Brewery, Boyne Brewhouse as well as Guinness and an array of oysters from around the country including the award winning Carlingford Oysters. The event begins at 6.30pm and no booking is necessary.
On Sunday 29th September we will be in Meade Potato Company for their epic Family Fun Day and 5K race as part of National Potato Day celebrations.
There is a massive amount of activities on offer for the whole family from a tractor grand prix to the 5K race there is something for everyone.
Of course there will be lots of delicious Boyne Valley produce on offer too!
